What is "base" in relationship

When people refer to "bases" in relationships, they're usually employing a metaphor that likens the progression of physical intimacy to the bases on a baseball diamond. This metaphor, primarily used in the United States, can vary a bit in its exact interpretation, but traditionally, it breaks down as follows:

1. First Base: Definition: Kissing, including open-mouth (or French) kissing.

2. Second Base: Definition: Physical contact with the breasts, over or under clothes. This could include fondling or groping.

3. Third Base: Definition: Manual stimulation of the genitals, or "hand-to-genital contact." This could be handjobs or fingering, depending on the partners involved.

4.Home Run (or Fourth Base): Definition: Sexual intercourse.

It's essential to note that this metaphor is somewhat dated and doesn't encompass the full range of human relationships or sexual experiences. Also, relationships are individual and unique, and there isn't a one-size-fits-all model. Intimacy progresses differently for everyone, and not everyone may choose to or feel the need to follow this specific trajectory.

Moreover, communication, understanding, and consent are of paramount importance in any intimate relationship. Always ensure that any progression in intimacy is mutually desired and consensual. Most importantly understand NO MEANS NO, at any given set of circumstances.
